About Us
Transforming Care from “Good Enough” to Greatness.
What if ‘just care’ isn’t enough?
We’re a Department on Disability Services (DDS)-certified residential provider, held to the highest standards, and regularly audited for compliance and excellence—read our most recent audit here. But for us, compliance is only the baseline. Real impact starts when services move beyond paperwork and policies, and meet people where their lives actually happen.
Our Vision
Mercyland Healthcare Inc. (MHI) aims to be one of the leading Home and Community-Based Setting(HCBS) providers for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in the District of Columbia, focusing on a person-centered care approach, emphasizing the strengths of individuals while supporting their weaknesses, alongside monitoring outcomes and performance. We don’t just offer services. We co-create real lives. Every person we serve is seen, heard, and supported through the lens of their individual goals, interests, and potential.
Our Mission
At Mercyland Healthcare Inc. (MHI), our mission is to be more than a service provider — we are a trusted partner, advocate, and community resource for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), their families, and the dedicated staff who support them. We believe in combining hard work, compassion, and accountability with a strong culture of solidarity, ensuring that every person receives not just care, but a pathway to independence, dignity, and inclusion. At MHI, we are proud to stand as both a provider and a resource hub — committed to helping persons and families thrive through care, connection, and community.

Backed by the City. Connected to the Community.
We proudly work alongside DC’s Department on Disability Services, using their eligibility and intake guidelines and expanding on the wide range of services they provide. But what truly sets us apart is how deeply we root our supports in real, vibrant community life.
We’ve built meaningful
partnerships with
Rosedale Library (NE) and Shepherd Park/Juanita E. Thornton Library (NW) – offering weekly access to inclusive community events and volunteering opportunities for the people we serve.
Temple of Praise Church – creating avenues for spiritual growth, social engagement, and meaningful service
This isn’t charity work. This is empowerment. Because when our individuals give back to their city, their sense of self, belonging, and purpose multiplies.
We believe in a world where families don’t have to fight for respect… where people with IDD aren’t hidden in systems, but lifted by them… and where care is not just functional, but transformational.
